Marshawn Evans is is an attorney, author, speaker, and motivator of women. (She’s also a fellow TCU alum. Go Horned Frogs!) I was recently perusing her website and noticed this post about the power of vision boards. She was even featured on Good Morning Texas discussing how vision boards can help inspire and motivate us to achieve our goals for the new year. On her blog, she shares,
How is a vision board different than a resolution? Well, resolutions tend to be rooted in regret. A vision board, however, is incredibly powerful. But why? It’s just images torn from magazines and glued to a piece of paper, right? How powerful can that be?
Well, I like to first make sure I’ve thought about who I want to BE and what I want to DO and HAVE before I start choosing images. I’m not just tearing out pictures of flat abs, sexy men, or lying on a beach somewhere (though there’s nothing wrong with any of that!). What happens when you see these pictures chosen from the true you–make sure you put the collage where you’ll see if often–is that the images start to reprogram your brain. Now, THAT is powerful.
Check her out here on Good Morning Texas. 2015 provides new opportunities for growth in my own career and personal life that I am both nervous and excited about. Setting lofty goals and having big dreams can be scary, but solidifying those goals in your own mind and putting them out there, whether on a vision board or sharing with girlfriends, are the first steps toward achieving them. What are your resolutions, goals or dreams for 2015? Share with us in the comments.
